Elekta highlighted an ASTRO 2026 study from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center involving 123 patients with localized pancreatic cancer who were not eligible for surgery.
Patients received MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy on Elekta Unity between May 2020 and December 2024, delivered in five sessions over two weeks. Plans were adapted to anatomy at each session.
With median follow-up slightly longer than two years, reported overall survival from radiotherapy was 37.4% at two years and 26.3% at three years. Freedom from local progression was 76.8% at both time points.
These cohort results warrant further study and should not be interpreted as proof of survival benefit over other treatments. The manufacturer summary does not describe a randomized comparison.
The reported patients were treated on Unity. Elekta's separately announced Unity Pro workflow enhancements were not established as the cause of these outcomes.
