Published Date: September 29, 2025

Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, announced significant advancements to its Halcyon treatment platform at the ASTRO 2025 Annual Meeting. The upgrades include enhanced patient positioning, improved real-time motion management, and built-in high-quality cone beam CT imaging.  These innovations mark the most advanced evolution of Halcyon to date, designed to boost treatment precision, efficiency, and patient comfort.

Built for speed and simplicity, Halcyon features a compact footprint, rapid installation, and streamlined workflows. Current systems deliver image-guided radiotherapy in under 10 minutes, helping clinicians treat more patients with less complexity. The latest improvements strengthen Halcyon’s position as a leading linear accelerator for efficient, high-quality cancer care.

Highlights include:

  • The new PerfectKinetix Dynamic Couch* accelerates patient positioning, and aims to improve comfort
  • IDENTIFY* integration improves positioning options; automated beam control† simplifies workflows
  • Embedded HyperSight* shortens imaging sessions with scans that are better, faster, bigger, and have shown to make a difference in patient treatments

“Halcyon reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing cancer care through intelligent design and purposeful innovation,” said Sasa Mutic, president of Varian Radiation Oncology Solutions at Siemens Healthineers. “These transformative updates empower clinicians, improve the patient experience, and support a more sustainable future for healthcare.”

Halcyon’s sustainable design, incorporates lower energy use, reduced shielding requirements, faster installation, and lighter materials. These advances limit the environmental impact of radiotherapy while embedding sustainability throughout the patient care journey.
